"Volunteering at Hope Care and Beyond has truly been a transformative experience for me. Coming from an immigrant family it has truly been an honor to have the opportunity to assist these refugees in their English learning journeys. Seeing the resilience of these women in the face of challenges has truly been inspiring."

"I have been taking a sewing class through IFC for the past 3 weeks. It is amazing the contacts that have been obtained, fast friendships that have been created, and the work of the Lord that I have had the opportunity to witness! They truly pour their whole hearts into the people they serve, while simultaneously keeping their culture intact."

"They really understand about the needs of our foreign residents. We need to learn how to love them better."

"I came to HCB as a volunteer several months ago and have found working here to be very rewarding. I have been retired for a few years and was looking for a place I could use my skills to help people. I love HBC because we are making a tangible difference in people’s lives through the services and resources we offer. The founders of HBC understand the language and culture of the people we help which makes the results of our work more effective."

"My visit to the International Friendship Center in Dearborn was inspiring. It was wonderful to see the ESL classes, with their experienced teachers and students committed to active learning. The interpreters and other volunteers were extremely capable, too. Students took their studies seriously, but there was wonderful camaraderie. The sewing room was impressively well equipped for training, and the “pantry,” where participants can obtain necessary food supplies and household items, was thoughtfully stocked. It is clear why donations are important, as the needs are great. Despite the challenges that these new immigrants face, I was most impressed by the friendly and supportive atmosphere at the Center. It is truly a place of hope!"

"I come here once, sometimes twice a week to help with the ESL, to help with the daycare, and help with the sewing. I think it's a wonderful program to help immigrants learn English...they can be more independent. These women really need the support to learn English...I am surprised everyday about how...willing they are to share their stories and learn about our stories. The sewing is incredible; these women can go out and earn a living and sew from home which I think is going to be wonderful. It's just a wonderful experience."
